LOCATION: John Labatt Centre (London, ON, Canada N6A6K1)
SUPERVISES: Business Manager and Accounting Assistant
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
- The Director of Finance is responsible for all day-to-day business/finance functions for the John Labatt Centre. This position will interact with all departments, external finance related organizations, and Global Spectrum corporate offices.
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
- Approve payment of the payroll for all salaried and hourly employees
- Review and approve GL account reconciliations, event settlements, and London Knights Settlements
- Direct completion of other reports and analysis as required
- Ensure requirements are being met with respect to all contracts and agreements especially the Participatory Occupancy Lease
- Continuously review the business to ensure that value is realized from all agreements and services undertaken
- Ensure insurance requirements are being met
- Develop, implement, and update Finance policies and procedures and all internal controls
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reports for GM, LCC, City of London and Global Spectrum Corporate Offices
- Coordinate the annual budget process for the John Labatt Centre
- Review and approve the monthly financial statements and update the rolling forecast
- Responsible for human resources functions; policies, records and requirements
- Research and negotiate for services in the areas of employee benefits, pension services, ATM services, credit card processing, audit and other professional services
- Hire, train, direct and supervise Business Manager
- Design and Implement accounting controls and procedures
- Act as liaison with Working Committee and LCC on Financial Issues
- Oversee and maintain LCC financial records and associated reporting
- Perform other duties as assigned by the General Manager or Assistant General Manager
QUALIFICATIONS:
- The incumbent requires a professional accounting designation (CA, CGA, CMA, CPA) or an accounting or business degree. Seven years experience at an appropriate level, including supervisory experience, preferably in the facility management field, or related industry. He or she must have a firm understanding and experience with computerized financial and accounting systems.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Oversees Finance Department operations, financial reporting, internal financial controls, and compliance with policies, financial matters relating to the Occupancy Lease, the Ground Lease, and the agreement with the London Knights Hockey Club. Provide appropriate level of support for the departmental Directors, General Manager, and Assistant General Manager. Oversee the annual budget preparation, completion of monthly financial statement analysis and rolling forecast.
AUTHORITIES:
- Hires, evaluates, and oversees Finance Department Staff. Exercise signing authority for company cheques and contracts within established guidelines.

Description:
As a representative of the Event Staff, you are the primary contact with the guests at the John Labatt Centre. You will have knowledge of the building and its services. You will be required to provide a safe and enjoyable environment for our guests.
Responsibilities:
- Be familiar with ticketing, seating locations, procedures and building policies.
- Able to handle large groups of guests.
- Maintain control of your assigned sections or area.
- Anticipate and correct any trouble situations in your area.
- Know general building information and locations of various amenities.
- Ensure areas are safe for patrons and staff.
- Monitor alcohol consumption and related issues.
- Provide exceptional customer service to all patrons.
Qualifications:
- Must be available for at least 70% of all events occurring within each month.
- Experience in customer service.
- Ability to manage high stress situations.
- Able to be on feet for long periods of time.
- Able to work a variety of events including children’s shows, theatre performances, and loud concerts.
- Must have a pleasant and outgoing personality.
- Must be friendly, courteous and polite with a positive attitude.
- Will be subject to a performance review after 3 months of service.
- Must possess or successfully obtain Smart Serve.

Job Title: Group Sales Intern
Duration: Winter Internship 2010-2011 (September – April )
Reports to: Group Sales Director and Group Sales Representative
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Assist in promoting and implementing all family shows and sporting events to Group Sales customers
- Assist in researching target markets, creating promotional materials and developing and implementing event promotions
- Grass roots efforts for selected shows
- Assist in updating and maintaining the department database
- General administrative duties
- Assist in handling customers seat selection and processing orders
- Become familiar with the shows/events
- Day of event assistance with Group sales Programs along with meet & greets
- Time commitment of between 12 - 16 hours per week required
- Other tasks and duties as assigned
The individual must possess solid verbal and written communication skills, a conscientious work effort, ability to be a team player and the desire to learn and work in a fast paced environment. Hours will vary.
No financial compensation is available for these positions. Travel and housing arrangements are the responsibility of the students.

1-2 years industry experience in a medium to high volume fast paced environment. Candidates should have experience in all positions related to line work (fryers, grills, sauté, salad & desserts) an understanding of basic knife skills.
Position Tasks:
All prep items of the Dining Room Menu. This is a very demanding position that requires the individual to work a variety of shifts including but not limited to Weekends, Week Days and late nights. You will report directly to the Executive Chef while being supervised by the Sr. Sous Chef and Sous Chef. This is strictly an event driven position.
